Our company was founded in 1957 by Fred N. Buch at its present location in the Lincoln section of Ephrata, Pennsylvania. At the time Mr. Buch was a student at Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey where he studied organ and church music. Following graduation from Westminster, he purchased the present office and showroom building from his father.
In the early years, the business specialized in pipe organ work and was known as "Fred N. Buch Pipe Organs". In the 1960s Mr. Buch became associated with the Aeolian/Skinner Organ Company of Boston. In that capacity he covered a five state area as a sales and design consultant. He was instrumental in the installation of several fine Skinner Organs.
Many churches began to consult with Mr. Buch regarding custom designed electronic organs.
So in 1972, Buch Church Organ Company applied the same custom detail from their pipe organ experience to electronic organs and became a representative for the Rodgers Organ Company of Hillsboro, Oregon. Along with the Rodgers instruments, Mr. Buch began a successful trend of combining pipes and electronics. At this point in time the name of the company was changed to Buch Church Organ Company. In the mid 1990s, seeing a need for custom digital additions to pipe organs and the desire for custom specification all digital instruments, Buch, in collaboration with Walker Technical Company, began providing their own digital instruments based on high resolution sampling of some of the finest Aeolian/Skinner pipe organs. Using the same attention to detail and customization that made Buch successful in the pipe organ business, the company began a long and successful relationship with churches who wanted the very finest pipe/digital instruments. In January 2002, Buch Church Organ Company began working exclusively with "custom built" pipe and digital organs.
While it is our opinion that the pipe organ is usually the best choice, it is not always the best choice. A church that needs a large instrument to fulfill the musical and space requirements, but has a limited budget and/or limited space may be better served with a digital organ or a digital organ augmented with pipes. All of our custom digital specifications can have real wind-blown pipes added at any time. Pipe organ builders naturally strongly recommend a pipe organ. Digital organ builders usually recommend a digital organ. Some may provide limited pipe digital combination specifications. Since we can provide it all, we have no axe to grind.
While Buch Church Organ Company has been chosen to design and install organs for churches such as the 1400 seat Cedar Crest Bible Church in Allentown, the 2400 seat Calvary Church in Lancaster and the 1250 seat chapel for Lancaster Bible College, our specialty has been organ installations in churches seating less than 500 people. We can provide your church with the expertise of our experienced design staff resulting in a fine custom installation at a reasonable price.
Today, many churches contact Buch Church Organ Co. when they want a fine instrument at a reasonable price combined with excellent service after the installation. Buch provides custom digital samples of many famous "Aeolian/Skinner" organs as additions to existing pipe organs, or as complete new custom digital organs designed, built and installed by Buch.
At Buch Church Organ Company, we will recommend what we feel will best serve your requirements. We can provide pipe organs, or Buch custom built digital organs. Our company combines the centuries old art of organ building with 21st century technologies. Should your church require renovations to accommodate the new organ and you do not have the people to do the work, Buch Church Organ Company can provide the design and construction people to handle the entire job. Your needs and desires are our utmost concern.
The 45 years of success at Buch Church Organ Company can be attributed to following our mission statement.: "determine the musical, acoustical and architectural requirements of each prospective client, then design and install a custom organ to meet those requirements and provide excellent maintenance service".
