St Philip The Apostle Church, Lancaster PA
St. Philips Catholic Church had a thirty year old digital organ which
no longer met their music requirements. The organ committee decided
to look at several digital organs and a pipe organ. After their
visit to Grace United Methodist Church in Millersville, the committee made
the decision to purchase a new three manual all digital organ since it
sounded more like a pipe organ then any of the other digital instruments
and offered more organ for the investment. After surveying the church auditorium, Fred Buch expressed concern about the fact that the chancel tonal openings contained baffles that directed the sound into the chancel rather than into the nave. In addition, there were no tonal openings into the nave. Recommendations were made to change the chancel tonal openings and add tonal openings into the nave. Since the church wanted the finest installation possible, they asked Buch Church Organ Company to not only provide and install a new organ, but to also handle all of the construction in the sanctuary. When the project was completed, there was no evidence of construction. All of the wood and wall paints used matched the existing and the new grills not only added to the tonal egress of sound, but had an improved appearance as well.
